Djambi :
playing
their universal music “The World Reggae” , conquers new horizons each day
that pass, bringing their message of peace around the World with love and joy .
Brazil,
gigantic, green and faraway, is the country of all mixtures. Indians, Africans
and Europeans live in this patchwork of cultures and conditions that each of
them brought from their own exodus.
Geographically
close to the Jamaïcan heart and proposing a sociologically favorable field,
it’s not surprising that Brazil is one of the first stages in the world’s
conquest that Reggae culture brings about right now.
Djambi started in 1995 in Curitiba
(400 km south from Sao Paulo) from a motivation based on the meaning of the
message: unify mankind in a struggle for social progress, education and freedom.
It’s quite natural that Djambi chose Reggae music to express their feelings.
Their music is a fusion between the musical lyrics in portuguese, the Brazilian
rythmic culture and the strong mobilization of Reggae, give the Djambi recepee
of an unique energy.
Djambi recorded its first album
“vaï ser isso” in 1996. during this year, rich in encounters, Djambi is
noticed by Junior Marvin (lead vocal and guitarist of the Wailers) who,
impressed by their presence on stage, hire them as his backing band on a big
European Tour (Holland, Belgium and Switzerland) and in Brazil. 1999, 2000 and
2001 are for Djambi years of recognition, accumulating tours in Brasil, in the
USA in 2000 and Europe 1999 , 2000 , 2001 on more and more important stages,
ready to make all types of public dance, from neighbourhood concerts to 65 000
spectators (Sao Paulo in May 2001). They also recorded in 1999 a second album
“keep this feeling” with a more established sound. In 2001 in Brasil ,
Djambi recorded their third CD “Djambi Live in Chicago” recorded at The Wild
Hare and Singing Armadillo Frog Sanctuary , and in France the compilation
“RIDDIM e PROGRESSO” with 13 hits . Now
as a mature band Djambi reaches its highlights. As a result of their originality
and strength, with vocals that evokes soul music - Rodolpho Grani Netto forceful
and the brothers Gibi and Neno Da Silva in a more soft register sometimes
evoking the Gospel - the percussions of Claudio Peppe - ex percussionist of
“the Wailers”- who plays Congas and Bongos as well as Nyabinghi, the
screaming guitar of Marlon Siqueira -nobody like him to get the public going,
guitar on his back like Hendrix -, the acoustic creativity of Fernando Bispo on
the keyboards, everything supervised by the captivating rithmic session of the
Nassar brothers - Mauricio on the drums and Marcelo on bass guitar.
Bringing
to Reggae the friendliness and multiculture of Brazil, Djambi introduces Reggae
music to a much larger public without loosing the subject. Enthusiastic and
professional at the same time the musicians of Djambi take us with simplicity to
the essence of music: dancing to pave the way for those who are going to build a
better world. They show us day after day, that to achieve this, the road to
follow towards happiness is happiness itself.
