Lazah Current - " Glorious Ride "
Born in Manchester, Jamaica, Lazah Current emigrated to Canada in 1975, settling in the Toronto area. Lazah had internationally acclaimed start in the music industry as one of the original members of "Messenjah", heralded as Canada's top reggae band. Using the stage name "Current Saint," he was with "Messenjah" for 12 years, playing keyboards and providing background vocals. Their efforts garnered the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts And Sciences JUNO Award for Best Reggae Album for "Catch The Vibe" in 1997. His last two years with "Messenjah", Lazah released three singles, "Supermodel," "Message," and "World Wide War Zone" on Lazer Records. These three songs earned Lazah the coveted "DJ Of The Year Award" on Luther Brown's Caribbean Crucible Radio Show, as well as a JUNO Award nomination in 1994 for Reggae Artist Of The Year.This is his first full-length album, "Glorious Ride" (Lazer Records),with sixteen songs that showcase a variety of styles from DJ dancehall to conscious reggae, and includes a song based over an aria from an Italian opera entitled "Rasta Symphony."
