Linval Thompson recorded his first song in New York, in 1974 he returned to Jamaica and started recording for Bunny "Striker" Lee, highly influenced by the talents of Dennis Brown, Johnny Clarke and Horace Andy, Thompson get his first hit "Don't Cuff Your Dreadlocks",  followed by the pure Roots songs "Jah Jah the Conqueror", "Ride On Dreadlocks", "Cool Down Your Temper" and "A Big Big Girl" all included on Thompson's LP "Don't Cuff Your Dreadlocks" released in 1976. In the same year  Linval Thompson followed on his own, singing and producing : "12 Tribes Of Israel", "Jah Jah Is I Guiding Star", "Can't Stop Natty Dread Again" (here included) and giving hits to the young Freddie McGregor, Johnny Osbourne, Barrington Levy. In the 80's  with Dancehall Running Things, he didn't recorded frequently, today he focus his business in Stoney Hill, Jamaica, where he reissues his huge catalogue.
