Fantastic box set from VP / North Parade consisting of seven vinyl singles from the classical seventies catalogue of producer Augustus Gussie Clarke.
The singles include Leroy Sibbles' fantastic No No No, using the killer Gussie cut of the rhythm famous from Big Youth's Screaming Target, Roman Stewart's Try Me, again familiar from a Big Youth cut, this time Tippertone Rocking, and Sibbles again with the third version of Guiding Star, the tune he first cut with the Heptones at Studio One and again with Clive Chin.
But the real beauty here, the track that makes this set essential for any reggae fan, is the inclusion of Leroy Smart's incredible original reading of Pride & Ambition, quite simply one of the best records ever made from Jamaica to the World.
Many of these are issued on 45 for the first time and are coupled with rare original dub or instrumental pieces and extremely important - The sound quality is superb.
