After the release noted in October 2015 their first EP "Humble" Young Lords offers his first album 'Rise', realization of the meeting of two worlds, that of Alex Keren and that of the Handcart Band.
Alex Keren is a singer Soul / pop (Walkin'on / Underdog Records) who surveyed the London clubs and other Parisian scenes and also working time sound engineer and producer. The sound comes from the roots Handcart raging for over 10 years on reggae stages in Europe alongside international reggae artists like (Abyssinians, Mighty Diamonds, Pablo Moses, Linval Thompson ..). Since 2004, they work with many Jamaican artists and producers (Morgan Heritage, Sizzla, Sugar Minott ...) and also produced and composed among others the "Ghetto Living" album Linval Thompson.
From the first days of studio spent together, the magic, the warm sound, powerful and organic of Handcart combines perfectly with the voice of Alex Keren. The first title was registered Youth. Alex Keren, installed in a studio near Paris (Studio Cargo Montreuil) delivers a song with a rather melancholy messages evoking youth that gradually moves away, while remaining engraved forever. Following such, Alex Keren takes a train ticket and joined the group in Marseille to work on new compositions. Locked themselves in the studio Maraboo / Jean Jaurès in the northern districts of Marseille. The love-song Call My Name, solar Grab it and especially tubesque Under The Sun result. A few months go by and this time it is Al, bassist Alex finds that the studio Cargo to continue what will become the "Rise" album. This session will be born Parisian three new titles, and the deep roots Eyes on You, the first single Humble and energetic Tired. The soul of Young Lords emerges, their groove, their message. A heavy sound with subtle arrangements, a conscious message positive and full of love.
Handcart while working in parallel on the first mix of the project, Alex sends them the voice of the title Rockin'it, a piece that feels good like in the 70's. It was for them evident to invite Dennis Alcapone, percursor of DJ style in the 70s in Kingston. Having accompanied with The Handcart Band on several tours, Al manages to make him listen to the title, calling on the version. Dennis Alcapone quickly accepts it put his voice to the delight of the Young Lords.
Will be finalized in the last, the hovering Rise who delivers a message of conscience and peace, ska Someone else hopping without losing the consistency of the message of humanity, Beauties of life to its irresistible vintage and the final song, the acoustic Precious ending the album on a hymn to life. The album "Rise" is charged with positive energy and hope. Musically, the album is a journey through various reggae influences, all supported by a soulful voice taking reggae elsewhere 'by making it a modern pop the best taste. Young Lords presents an album that is good for the heart, body and soul.
All instrumentals were recorded at Studio Jean Jaurès (Marseille) / Studio Maraboo Laurent "The Sorcerer" Longubardo. The voices were recorded at Studio Maraboo (Marseille) / Cargo Studio (Paris) / Earthworks Studio (London).
