California Dubbin' is Chuck's third dub release following the well-received Conscious dub (2013) and Righteous Dub (2016) on the Catch Me Time Records label.
Recorded at Rough Sounds in Redondo Beach, it features Mike Irwin on bass, Tony Bird on keyboards and riddim guitar, Rextafari on pick and lead guitar, Todd Johnson of Arise Roots on trumpet, Fernando Jativa (longtime touring musician with The English Beat) on saxophone and guest appearances from Tony Chin of the Soul Syndicate, Aggrovators, Observer All Stars and more on guitar and ex-Twinkle Brother Zacky Bernard on keys.
This is an old school dub release that combines experimental instrumentation with traditional effects to achieve a roots feel with a contemporary edge. Full vocal versions of these tracks can be found on Chuck's current Catch Me Time release Looks Like Trouble.
